WOMEN EMPOWERED
We welcome women and children. Our strength and our future.
Women in the Viking Age enjoyed more freedom and held more power in their society than many other women of their day. They could own property, request a divorce and reclaim their dowries if their marriages ended.
Viking society was very much group-based, small clans that had to function independently and be strong – while at the same time flexible enough to interact with other clans.
This interaction was mostly in peace, but at the same time each clan had to be prepared for battle. Thus, the role of each person in each clan was of the utmost importance. Nothing could be taken for granted, and certainly not the women.
We believe in empowerment, regardless of age, gender, culture or religion.
